Very interesting... was listening to 'Pharaoh's Dance' off Miles Davis' epic 'Bitches Brew', when a sound from my webbrowser sank into the music... its was the creepy reverb segment from the 'Dawn of the Dead' soundtrack. And it actually worked well with Miles.. I'll be damned...

This is where we get our third wind...
After a wonderful time covering the Blue Note Festival in Ghent, Belgium, the OnTheFlip site has been kinda like those empty windy prairies with the tumbleweeds blowing across the dirt in the foreground of a dark night sky... I've been relocating to the wonderful city of Ottawa, Canada to kick off a year that will see the OnTheFlip zine move on to excting new geographical locations... Brussels or New York or... so it's taken all my time and energy to get the moving sorted (as well as staying updated on the intricate aspects of the US presidential election and the Darfur crisis).
But from now on, we're back in gear... a new batch of reviews will be up this week and forthcoming goodies include the first instalments in OnTheFlip's new 'Diggin' series (I promise I'll try to come up with a better name) : a city by city check of record shopping, cratedigging and carboot mugging... starting with Ottawa and hitting Toronto and beyond soon.
Also look out for the OnTheFlip radio show... we're in the process of producing the jingles and getting the format straight... and we'll be looking at broadcasting options soon...
All from here for now, hit us back with comments, suggestions or general rants... we love random nerdery..
Stay tuned, stay safe, see ya...

Hi there,
phew, it was a struggle as always but exams and newspaper projects are now over and I can get back to nurturing the OnTheFlip webzine. Fresh news and reviews will be up within the next few days.
And we're still looking for writers to join our webzine family. No experience needed, just a strong passion for innovative music. Drop me an email...
All for now, getting busy updating!

First of all, apologies for keeping you all waiting with the OnTheFlip site. I've been swamped with work like never before these past weeks. Mentoring kids for a newspaper workshop, getting my US and Canada travels sorted out for next year, getting all my summer plans going, tracking media coverage of the Sudan crisis and brushing up on centuries of American and British history. Only accorded breaks have been to go dig out new records every now and then... need fresh music to survive...
So it'll also be a few weeks before new features are published at OnTheFlip. But news are added at least once a week and reviews are posted all the time. So keep checking back...
As all our efforts have been going into the site, not much promotion is being done yet. So if you're on a forum or community that deals with the OnTheFlip music, spread the word! And do join this blog and let us know what you're up to...
Into this at the moment :
Clouddead : Ten
Blue Note Revisited
Moodymann : Black mahogani
Bola (both albums)
Now playing : 21 Grams soundtrack
Stay tuned, stay safe, see ya,
Nicolai
